Ice tube clokc woes

Post by chris doernbrack »

All was going well until I unpackaged the tube and while untwisting the leads one of them broke off. I tried to solder it back on but no luck as it broke so near the glass. Any chance at getting a replacement?

My other issue is that I am not getting the voltage at the regulator anymore. I do get 9.6V on one side of the fuse but the other side is about 1.25V. I have checked my soldering connections, could I have damaged the fuse?

Lastly, I will need to get another replacement part that I broke myself. How do I go about that?

Hi Chris. Lets start by getting some photos of the front & back of the board so we can check your soldering & assembly so far. Also a complete list of the broken parts. We do have some parts available individually for replacement.

In terms of the parts I need, you can see the square chip holder is missing on the far right side. I was trying to desolder it and ended up applying to much heat and a couple of pins came out. Until I get the board working I won't know if I need a new tube or not.

Thanks for the help.

Apparently I had one of the chips in backwards as I wasn't paying attention to the bridge. At this point I will need a PLCC socket as I broke it. I am curious about the tube. when untwisting the leads from the package one broke off at the glass. I put in a short lead hoping it would work but it may not. Would the company send one out as a good gesture given the lead broke as I untwisted them? If not, is there a way to test the tube?

What is the replacemennt cost of the tube?

We can replace the tube for you. You can contact [email protected] with a link to this message.

Unfortunately, w we don't have PLCC sockets for individual sale. The links in the parts list will take you to our sources for these.

Not sure what is up with the fuse. It should break the connection when it overloads, then recover again when it cools down. What resistance do you measure across the leads of the fuse?
