ice clock Q3 confusion

Post by regnull »

Hi there!

I am a bit confused with one step in ice tube clock assembly. I got all the way to Q3 transistor installation. Funny that my board says Q4 where there is Q3 on the photo in your instruction page (see attached). I don't even see Q4 in the parts list! To add to the confusion, I got two transistors in my kit. On one it says ZVP 330 6A, and on the other (sitting in a plastic bag with "Q3" label on it) ZVP 211 0A. Please suggest which one to use, and should I just stick it into the mysterious Q4 slot.

Thanks,

Leonid

Noticed the same thing.

I used the ZVP 3306 in the Q4 slot.

I haven't verified it works yet though... I messed up wiring the tube.

You want to use the ZVP2110A. We recently switched to this part based on feedback from our customers. The ZVP3306 works fine in most cases, but in a few clocks there were display problems and the ZVP2110A appears to work more consistently.

I'll check into the Q3->Q4 label change, but the part should be installed in the 3-pads just below the Q4 label in your photo.

I've updated the tutorial with the new part number.

The updated sections look good. Thank you!

It's probably worth mentioning the new part in this step as well to avoid confusion.
