ds1307 on Raspberry Pi, what happens if . . . ?

Post by PandaMonium »

I've got the DS1307 RTC up and running on a Pi 2. Yay!

If I move the ds1307 to a different Pi (an old B+), what happens to the one that is set up? Will there be any inconsistency in behavior because of trying to set the system time from a hardware clock that doesn't exist, or from telling the system that the ds1307 is on 0x68 when it isn't even connected?

Also, may I strongly urge you folks to please add to the main setup article a mention of not soldering in the 2.2K resistors when intending to use the ds1307 on a Pi? I followed that, then realized there was no mention of Pi setup, and then found the article on using it with a Pi, where learned that I now had to cut them out. :-(

There shouldn't be any problem with the Pi 2 if the DS1307 is not attached
