Hi All
this was a open hardware cut-tape feeder Design
DXF + PDF Files http://www.alphatronique.ca/ZevA_FEDER_v2.3.zip
Photo of first prototype ...
ok the CNC shop have do horrible job .normally tread bolt go inside the spacer and surface finish was far better
the posted .DXF was newer version that not need spacer for 8mm tape
the mean idea is that you may change tape wide by swap spacer and you may stack as many you whist of the rail
so this make universal and flexible design ,rail grove was calculated for let you peel of cover tape whit tape on the feeder
this design may extruded for mid volume and lower cost production

This would be pretty easy to fab with a solid printer. Do you need the stiffness of aluminum or could you make that up with some backing material? It would be significantly easier to print out the detailed parts with a Dimension FDM printer and then bolt that down onto some .125" or .25" aluminum. Then the aluminum would be really easy to fab with just a jigsaw, drill press and hand tap.

Hi
my next version will made in plastic ,i will make mold soon
not need really hard material since it posed into a flat surface
3D printer may good but did it make flat surface sot tape glide easy when you push it on the grouve ?

It depends on which printer you used. If you used a soluble support printer then the tape would slide very easily. How much height is acceptable to have above the tape? With a .04" thick top lip the plastic would be strong enough and definitely cheaper than having a mold built, even if you do a Protomold or have it fabbed in China.

HI
actually i not make a injection mold but a cast mold whit use of A-B plastic
it work like epoxide whit "A" and "B" part once mixed it hard in 5 min
that have advantage to not need big pressure for work ~60 lbs/in was ok
and it easy to accomplish since mold + part that was placed on pressure chamber
whit compressed air that colaps air bubble vacuum also work but air was more easy to got that vac
that reduce mold price to <400$ and permit part good quality
i use tddinc.com i canada for make all my cnc work

2 part urethane casting can be useful, I have done it from time to time with silicone master molds. Sometimes the part flatness and variability can be an issue, particular as you start making more than 10 copies from a mold. Let us know how your fixture works.

Hi
this wly i what to try aluminium mold instead of normal silicon one that last only under 50 part
and make it at much better price ,for now aluminium rail cost ~25$ each my target was <5$ for plastic one
but i not knot yet time frame for make is since that now that firmware for pick place project was finaly done
i have got back top of my priority list to finish the pick place
