Is there any demand for P&P DIY kit?

Post by isozee »

We use P&P mechanism as attached photo (metal frame part) for our factory products.
I feel this mechanism may help who want to make a low cost P & P by him(her)self.
Attached photo is a very simple example to put it on a ply wood plate and set cut tape feeders, IC tray and PCB on it .
The kit consists of X,Y drive, single P & P head with Theta and z control and can expand to 2 heads or with dispenser head and all parts are factory proofed parts for long time.
(motors and cameras are option, factory selected ones or any others)
The kit can run with 7722 software and hardware of course or any others.
This is not the cheapest P & P approach but will be the easiest way.
Pls comment.

Improving 7722 software for paid customers should be a priority, imho.

I am interested depending on the cost. I am suspecting that it might be fairly expensive due to the cost of motors and controllers alone.

What would be included in the base package? What would be the cost of the base package?

Any thoughts of automatic tape feeders? The the lack of automatic feeders is major drawback with most of the DIY P&P machines I have seen. (That comment is not meant do discourage any of the good work that has been done) The feeders seem to be surprisingly complex.

The accuracy I am looking for would be 0805 currently, and maybe 0603. Given the projects I am working on, I do not see myself working smaller parts, but I suspect that I will find a reason to torture myself.
