Hi,
Just wondering if anybody has experience with making camera modules - are conventional SMT pick & place machines used to mount all-in-one lens packages (supplied as lens and mount)? If so, how bonded?
Thanks in advance

Re: pick & place for lenses on camera modules
Hi
never assemble that this myself but i see some issue / question raising
1-) if assemble at same time as SMT part lens must handle reflow temperature
and i really not think it may the case and desirable EX :flux fume from CCD on internal lens etc etc
2-if assembled on a separate step and glued on PCB it may possible
just need rubber (LED) nozzle and lens in tray or similar holder that keep it strait and at fixed position
so need to use glue dispenser for glue dot and grab and centering lens whit vision and place it as usual part
once glue was dry you may put screw on back if need ..
but at this stage many kind of industrial robot may do a better job for this king of job
and based on past experience that kind of lens need manual focus so human work force may better option anyway ..
since automate focus step may a great challenge
Best regard
