Hi I just received a new EX330 in the mail.
I put in a new battery although the it does not show a low battery when I first turn on the unit.
Then I proceed to plug in the probes (black goes to the middle, and red goes to the right one).
I turn the dial to VDC, leaving it at auto range.
I get my standard AAA and it shows 0.3mV.
Then I try it on 9V square battery and it shows 0.1mV.
Is there something wrong with this meter?

Hi Nataku,
I'm not trying to speak for Adafruit but, have you plugged in the leads fully?
You also might check the resistance of the leads.
Typically test-leads will indicate 0.1 or 0.2-ohm when shorted together
(on the ohm range). You might try those simple tests.
It will give Support a little more info to go on.
Oh yeah, you are on the DC volts range, right?
Good Luck, John

Re: NewExtech EX330
Yes, you are correct. The lead was not pushed all the way in.
I did actually do the continuity test and it didn't beep so know the leads/probes either bad or not pushed all the way in.
So I went to grab a different pair from a broken DMM and that one worked. For whatever reason I didn't push it hard enough the first time and I found that the angle connector work best when they are 180 degree apart (making horizontal line) instead of vertical lines. I don't know if I make sense or not but hey it works.
Thanks for the tips John.

Re: NewExtech EX330
Glad it was helpful.
I don't know how many times I have made that mistake.
It is sure dissapointing when a new 'toy' (oops, I mean tool)
does not work right.
See you around the Forum, John
