for 4 days! Ouch!
I cleaned the tip up and it still seems to work, for now.
I guess I better start looking for a new heating element so I don't get left without an iron sometime soon.
I know I should feel lucky that I didn't burn my house down, but geese, I can sure be stupid sometimes!
Hakko FX-888 is a solid machine!
Left my Hakko on..

You should be OK for now as there are many Hakkos out there that have been running (not all at once) for years.

Ha! Well, if it's in a stand, you're sooooo much safer!
What Hakko was it? the 888? My Weller wesd51 turns off if I don't use it. I'm not sure if it's a timer or it detects deflections in tip temperature.

The WESD51 detects variations in the tip temperature indicating active use. If there has been no variation for some time, it will automatically shut-off. I bought a second one a while ago for the kids to use. It's a nice safety feature.I'm not sure if it's a timer or it detects deflections in tip temperature.
