It depends on the program you're using, but there will be a 'select video input' menu somewhere. In Quicktime Player it's a popup menu at the end of the control bar.

Thanks Mike - but it doesn't seem to be reading the camera-as-a-camera in Quicktime, though it does notice it as a potential microphone..

Macam seems to have solved the issue: http://webcam-osx.sourceforge.net/

Re: USB MICROSCOPE Mac OSX compatibility
I have this microscope and have been using it on my PC fine. I borrowed my friend's Mac OSX 10.9.5 for some video work and decided to test the microscope's software with no luck. I also tried the Macam software with no luck. However, I found out you can use it with Mac's Photobooth. So, just plug in the scope and launch Photobooth. You need to go into the settings and change the camera to the "Venus USB" one. Then, just make sure you choose "Flip new media" or something like that. Otherwise your scope will be a mirror image and the photos will be reversed. If you do that, it should work fine. It's a bit corny to listen to the countdown, but at least it's working :)

You can also use Quicktime Player.
Select "New Movie Recording" from the File menu, then choose the microscope as the input source from the recording window (there's a pop-up menu to the right of the record button).
