Power for Peltier Module + Heat sink

Post by bryceh »

Before I short-out or burn up my new 12V 5A Peltier module with 12V 5A heat sink, could you confirm that I can operate the entire assembly from the single 12V 5A switching power supply that I purchased (from Adafruit)? That is, do I (can I) join the power leads from the Peltier module and fan (and similarly their grounds) before attaching them to the transformer?

I watched the Adafruit Youtube video closely, but the connection to the power supply was always just out of view.

And one more question as long as I've already disturbed you: Is one power supply sufficient to run the heat sink *and* create 30ish deg C temp differential in the Peltier?

Thanks in advance,
Bryceh

You can connect this directly to the 12v/5A power supply. The temperature differential you are able to achieve will depend on how effectively you can insulate the cold side.
