I am working a project using a low energy bluetooth and am not satisfied with the results. Looking to switch to your breakout module for small production and then ?? I use a serial 9600 baud signal and transmit up tp 16 ASCII characters from my micro-processor to a bluetooth ble 4.0 device (RADICOM) master to slave and back. If I change to your device I will need to reprogram the micro for I2C operation. The master unit is an iPhone 4S. If I reprogram I just send the ASCII data via I2C to your module and it sends it out bluetooth to the iPhone. What service characteristic does it use and what attribute protocol plus is verification required? Do you have a straight serial device in low energy 4.0 bluetooth.
Thanks,
Ray

Re: nRF8001 bluetooth low energy
It's a UART data link with an RX and TX characteristic.
We have a sample iOS app that demonstrates this:

Please post clear, detailed pictures of both sides of the nRF8001, showing your soldering.

Re: nRF8001 bluetooth low energy
Do you have a voltmeter? See if you have 3.3v at the 3vo pin. Also, see what the voltage is at the RDY pin.
Next, try some different jumper wires, and try a different spot in the breadboard for the nRF8001

Re: nRF8001 bluetooth low energy
Hi, I am having the same issue.
I used a voltmeter and found I have 3.6 volts at my 3Vo pin and 4.15 on my rdy pin. I have checked that all of the bread board is functional and that none of my wires are faulty. I am using the downloadable examples given by the company and yet I am having the same issue where the device is not "advertising". Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks

@airsolid: How is the nRF8001 connected to the Leonardo? Can you post a picture showing all the connections?
@MaxOlsten: Please post clear, detailed pictures of both sides of the board, showing your soldering. Also, post a picture showing your connections to the Arduino
