How to Switch Colors on NeoPixel LED strips

Just ordered all supplies for making the motion sensitive led shoes. What I was wondering was how would I change the colors on the strips; because I know those neopixel strips have different settings. So, is the button going to be on the battery pack or will colors change from just my steps?

Do you mean the Firewalker shoes? There is no switch to change the color although one could be added. If this is not what you meant could you post a link to the page you are talking about? Thanks.
