USB Lion/Poly Charger 259

Post by sidwales »

We have just purchased this. What are the inputs/outputs for this item ? There are three connectors, one marked Batt (assumed to be the Battery being charged}, another Load (??) and a third unmarked (assumed to the 6V input)

Thanks for your help

Sid

Batt is indeed where you plug the battery in. Load is where you would plug the device the battery is to power. The DC IN is where you can plug up to six volts to charge the battery. STAT is where you can get output for the charging/done status if you want to use that offboard.

I have a 259 Li battery charger with no documentation. On the STAT outputs, what does the drive circuit look like? Do I just add an LED and resistor? To what +V? Which output is what function? I can only charge one battery at a time (3.7 V ?).

I can't read either of those files. ".sch" brings up my ORCAD but it apparently can't make sense of the file.

I'd like to use the Poly Charger 259 with a Feather Huzzah ESP 8266 board: https://www.adafruit.com/product/2821

Can I use the included JST cable to connect to the Feather JST connector? I'm assuming I could solder the leads to the "load" pins?

Are there precautions I need to take because of the Huzzah built in charger?

I have a two fold reason for this:
1.) I'd like to enclose the Huzzah in something that would physically block the USB port but still be able to provide power
2.) The "new" available usb port would only charge, inhibiting updating without accessing the Huzzah USB port directly.
