I have bought the pixel strands:

And I am looking at the tutorial for how to connect it to the Arduino.
My question is can I use the switching power supply that I also bought from you to power both the Arduino and the LED strip?
Would I then connect the 5V power directly to the 5V pin of the Arduino?
I would like to only have one power supply for my circuit.

yup! that would work - but you have to be careful, make sure you connect it to 5V and not the Vin or 3V pin!

Thanks, will it work even when I am connecting in to the computer through the USB cabel? Will it connect the correct power or will I have to disconnect the power then?

Another question regarding this power supply. I should use some cap with the power supply? Or will the cap already on the Arduino work in this case as well?

adding a 470uF-2200uF cap might not hurt!
