Aloha
I've got a project to use my inventory of Waterproof LED Strip (all three varieties - same color/LDP8806/HL1606) that will put the project outdoors in a rather wet climate (Keanae Maui HI). The connectors that ship with the strips are nice but I doubt they are waterproof. So I'm starting to look for some waterproof connectors. There will be at least 4 separate strips with 4-6 lines in each (depending on strip types). There will also be some remote input devices to provide manual control of the installation.
I think panel mounted jacks would be better than a pigtail -- easier to seal up the control box with panel mounts than cable holes. Jack covers (for when not in use) might simply be standard outdoor electrical boxes. Years ago I hunted up similar stuff for some commercial projects and found some mil-spec connector$. I do NOT need milspec this time and prefer not to pay premium for such.
It may be a good idea to use different connectors for different strip types/input devices to avoid confusion during setup. Then again getting a bulk discount and using good identification may be better.
So - main question here is:
What types of outdoor/waterproof connectors (plug/jack) do you recommend for low power/digital control projects?
