RF Touch Wheel Controller for Analog RGB LED Strips - Question

Postby RipPle » Tue Apr 10, 2012 11:30 am

Dear Support,

I have several LEDstrips in the same room that must be controled separatly.
Is the freqency ajustable or is there any programmable code so one remote controls only one receiver?

I've seen a post approaching this question but the answer doesn't sound clear to me :/
Thank you in advance for your help.

No. There is no "channel select" for receivers option on the controller.

:-)too bad... but thanks for your fast reply :-))

Would it be possible for me to modify them to reach my goal? I mean could you give me the procedure to change whatever needed to be into the remote and the receiver to act on a different channel for example? [ As you built it, i guess it shouldn't be too hard for electronic's guru like you ;-) ]
Thx a lot.

Unfortunately, these products are not our designs and (like most mass-produced products) not designed with 'hackability' in mind. :(

If you can describe the end-effect you are trying to create, someone might be able to suggest another way to achieve it.

Ok, I understand ... I tought you designed it.
Is the product 'openable" or is it full of resine? I could by one and try to hack it ;-)

I'll keep your offer in mind, I'll check first other products that i saw before spending your time.

Thank you very much anyway for your fast reply.

I haven't opened one up myself, so I can't say what it looks like inside.

The controller does have 3 channels for hard-wired strips. As long as you can run wires to the strips you can control them individually.

Good to know, thx for the update
Unfortunatly, I have a +12V arrival near each strip (power for controler) but the strips themselves are not wired in star :/; So i need one module/strip... More than this, each strip is quite long (over 5meters), so I can't connect a 20M strip on a single module.

Thank you for the GREAT support !!! :-)

Hi all,

I am very interested by this product but I would like to hack it more, but first of all I would like to know which frequency the device works, 433Mhz, 310Mhz or 868Mhz ?

Since it is RF, It could be easy to sniff the protocol and reproduce it (more complicated to find how it work), and then use a arduino with cheap RF transmitter to drive this controller ?

Another idea could be to have a arduino RGB shield with power fet (3 for one strip, 6 for two, ..) and RF receiver. Adding PWM TLC5090 and more fet could extend strip numbers also. Let me think about that....

By the way, at doog starting point, If anybody already hacked this protocol, I would be interested.

Have a nice day
