128X32 I2C OLED Display Library [SOLVED]

by Knight on Wed Oct 03, 2012 10:19 pm

Board,

So I purchased a 128x32 OLED display, and I tried to get the example code working. Here is what I have done so far:

* Downloaded and installed both libraries: https://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit_SSD1306 and https://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit-GFX-Library
* Renamed the folders in the libraries folder to Adafruit_SSD1306 and Adafruit_GFX as per the readme.
* Opened up the Adafruit_SSD1306.h file in notepad and commented out "#define SSD1306_128_64" and uncommented out "#define SSD1306_128_32".

This is all I have done.

I then attempt to compile and run the default example code sketch by clicking on File > Examples > Adafruit_SSD1306 > ssd1306_128x32_i2c. After I attempt to compile I get the following error: ssd1306_128x32_i2c.cpp:53:2: error: #error ("Height incorrect, please fix Adafruit_SSD1306.h!");

I have tried removing everything that says anything to do with 64, and nothing I do seems to help. In desperation I commented out the checks in the sketch, and was able to get the display to run, though it's only using the top half of the screen, which makes all but the largest text unreadable. Obviously I'm missing something in regards to the library configuration.

Below is the modified Adafruit_SSD1306.h file:

Much thanks in advance for what I'm sure is a silly mistake on my part!

try with a fresh copy of the library, make sure you only have one copy

change which line is commented in the .h file, and be sure to save it!

then try to re-compile and upload the sketch

You know... it's like you've done this before! And I ALMOST ignored that part of your response, figuring, "yeah, sure, typical response."

Much thanks! That was it, multiple copies of the library.

Re: 128X32 I2C OLED Display Library [SOLVED]

So I've tried to run this code for a simple school project, but due to my apparent lack of knowledge for the fundamentals of the Arduino platform I need help.
- Ive downloaded both zip folders
- I dont know how to correct the error: " 'Adafruit_SS1306' does not name a type"
- I know that the .h file must be changed but I dont know it that is everything I need to do.

Some assistance on this would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks

Have a look at this page for instructions on how to install libraries. And no, you don't want to rename the .h file. You want to make sure the library folder has the right name.
