Hey @packetslave, how exactly did you achieve the shared ground? To which ground point did you connect the external 5v power supply's ground to the RPi?
Thanks,
Karl

Re: Extended Raspberry Pi Library for the LPD8806
I love this library, but I am having a slight coding problem. When I set a state for the strip with one script a led.fillOff() or led.all_off() everything works fine. If I want to leave the current state of the strip and just alter certain leds on a subsequent run (therefore not using led.fillOff() or led.all_off) to preserve the prior state all of the number addressing for the LEDs are messed up. Basically, it will always treat whatever led I try to set, or fill as 0 even if I specify otherwise. Any idea what I am doing wrong?
