Bwahaha! I did it!
Video of my installation: https://vimeo.com/jmwitz/geodesic
It only took me 3 weeks of soldering every spare moment I had, but I was able to extend 46 Flat RGB LED Pixels from 3.5in apart to 4ft apart.
Now my only problem is that my soldering skills were rudimentary when I started, as I got better as I progressed, so there are a bunch of weak or compromised connections. Last night I cut out 4 of the pixels because I had to twist the wires just so to get the connection to run cleanly through.
I will be traveling with this installation quite a bit and need LEDs that are going to last and put up with the elements.
Is there any company that would be able to custom order these or similar LEDs for me? I've been thinking of re-doing the LEDs this time measuring accurate distances between pixels so that I don't have to wrap as much excess around the struts. If I could have them made from the factory it would definitely save a lot of time and would be worth the money to me.
Any advice?
