Resistance of LED strip

Post by camjones1708 »

I was curious what the resistance of a meter of this strip is? I only have a 12v power supply and want to keep running them and not have to wait for a new one to come in. I have resistors I can place in front of the strip to reduce the voltage coming in to be 5V.

Resistors will not work because the voltage drop will be proportional to the current (Ohm's Law). When the pixels are off (as they will be to start), the current will be nearly zero and the strip will see almost the full 12v. You really need a 5v regulated supply.
