So since the trinket/pro trinket's power regulator has a fairly limited power output, I understand I need to use external power for some neopixels (looking to power somewhere between 20-30). I can deal with that, but my question then becomes, what is the simplest way to power BOTH the trinket/pro trinket and the neopixels from a single power brick? 5v power supply won't work for the trinket/pro trinket since the regulator needs ~7v. 9-12v won't work for the neopixels.
Is the best/easiest option for handling the power problem this?
Split a 9v source power supply, one end going to trinket, the other going to:

A better way is to use a 5v supply and tap off that with a usb power cable (connect 5v and GND pins only) Then you can power the Trinket with 5v via the USB port. We have USB connectors in the store for making your own USB power cable: https://www.adafruit.com/products/1389

Totally didn't think of using the USB port for power, that sounds a lot easier, thanks!
