Hello,
I got a NeoPixel Ring - 16 up and running following the instructions for the "Superhero Power Plant"
Everything was working and all 16 + 1 center LED's glowing.
Then i pluged in a 11.1v Lipo into the JST head, the LED's displayed a rainbow of colours and flikering on and off.
I unplugged it, and now when i plug it in, only 5 of the 16 work. The others are dead. Even the center Flora RGB Smart NeoPixel is dead. I changed to a new Flora RGB Smart NeoPixel, but still not working.
All the wiring is still in original state.
I thought the Adafruit GEMMA can take up to 16V input? Was i wrong?
Thanks

Re: NeoPixel Ring - 16 dead pixels?
The Gemma can handle the voltage range up to 16V. However, that same voltage will be output to the Vout pin. You are driving the NeoPixel Ring from Vout. So when you plugged in the 11.1V Lipo the NeoPixels were over the voltage limits and probably burned out some pixels. The Superhero design was for standard 3 AAA batteries (4.5V), not a 11.1V Lipo. You will need to drive the NeoPixels from an external 5V voltage regulator or use a battery pack that is less than 5.5V.

Most LiPo's are 3.7v (4.2v on full charge). You can run the 3.3v Gemma and neopixels with those. Many 5v Gemmas will run on 3.7v too, though it is not guaranteed.can i run it using a 4.7V lipo?

I never heard of a 5V Gemma? Do you mean 5V Trinket?

Sorry, I did mean Trinket. Same processor - different form-factor.
