5-meter NeoPixel (white 30) strip only lights 2 pixels

Post by stephenenelson »

Hello all,

I have 5 meters of NeoPixel Digital RGB LED Strip (30 pixels/meter) that I bought at the beginning of the month. Unfortunately, only the first two pixels seem to work. I'd appreciate some help or a replacement.

Things I've checked:
  • Directionality: I'm plugging into the strip at the beginning of the arrows.
  • Power: I've got a 5V 10A DC power supply for the NeoPixel strip.
  • Anything else: I bought a second strip (I needed at least two anyway), connected it the same way, and it works fine.
Here's a picture of my setup running "simple". I set the pixel values to (50, 50, 50) and set NUMPIXELS to 150.

I'd appreciate any help.

Check the strip for a break in the data line or either of the power lines between the second and third pixel. If you don't need all the leds you could cut the strip at that pixel and solcer on your leads there, that might fix the problem. Be sure to check out theNeopixel Uberguide for more information on these strips.

Thanks. I'd prefer not to remove the weatherproof stripping since I'm planning on using this for an outdoor application.
