DotStar Library

I have a question on the new DotStar led strip. I will be using a led strip to scroll text will an arduino. Recently I was going to use the Neopixels but then I saw the DotStar. Which strip is better for scrolling text? Does the DotStar have it's own text library? If it does not would the Neopixel text library work. Since the DotStar has a clock pin would I have to use the Neopixel library differently to add the clock pin?

Text relies on the NeoMatrix library, which is an extension to the NeoPixel library. There is no matrix library for DotStars. The NeoMatrix library won't work with DotStars
