I was wondering whether it's possible to read different status registers from the HX8357 LCD controller.
The board documentation indicates that SPI MISO needs to be connected from RPI to the board, according to the board layout however MISO of the touch controller is connected to ground and the MISO (SDO) PIN of the LCD controller is unconnected.
Therefore reading seems to be possible in bidirectional mode only which is not (yet) supported by the linux driver.
Is this understanding correct?

Meanwhile I found that 3 wire support was added to the BCM2835 SPI driver in March 2015. Thread can be closed.
