Hackers for Charity has used several solar chargers in recent educational Raspberry Pi projects. Here is one version:
However, we have had to use a workaround for the mounting holes on the solar charger. Unfortunately, when mounting suspended (as seen in the above pic), the stand-offs will short out either of a couple different points on the board. Each short results in a different issue. For instance, in the picture below, we had to add tape to the bottom right stand-off to prevent the shorting of the board with the power connector. Notice that we are only using two stand-offs, instead of four. If we added a top-right standoff, then the LED for good power in will short and cease to function.
Any chance you could mod the next version for better stand-off support (yes, the board might be a little bigger)?
Does anyone else have this issue? Maybe I need smaller stand-offs?
