Simple project and question - Bright or Diffused LEDs?

Post by lizofaustin »

Hi,

There's a super simple project that we would like to use as a basic intro to circuits for 26 2nd Graders. The kids create something 3D out of colored paper and use LEDs, copper foil tape and a coin cell battery to add 1-4 lights to their creation. My question is... Which of the LEDs would work best in a classroom type of setting (bright light, colored paper...)? Should we go with the bright or diffused LEDs? Also, I'm not sure which coin cell battery might be best for them. Obviously, we don't want to spend more than necessary, but also don't want the kids to be disappointed. If you have any guidance, I'd be grateful.

Thanks!

I would use diffused LEDs for a more even light. Make sure your colored paper is not too opaque or the effect you are looking for won't be achieved.
