LED strands can be delicate

Post by uduni »

I have been using LEDs to teach hands-on programming classes to kids for a while. I used to buy the LEDs off Ebay, but sometimes the construction was shoddy, and the kids weren't too careful with them. I had problems with the solder points breaking. I am thinking of using the Neopixel Rings for upcoming classes, and I am just wondering if the solder points are durable?

If I were giving these to a class of kids I would mount them to a substrate and add a strain relief to the (permanently) attached wires.
