BeagleBone Miniature Wifi Adapter Not Recognized

by pkout on Thu Sep 13, 2012 8:54 pm

We purchased BeagleBone with the Miniature Wifi Adapter (, and followed the adapter installation instructions at All seemed to go well, but when we run ifconfig -a, there is no wlan interface. Only eth0 and lo. Our board runs Angstrom. This is the output of uname -a:

Linux beaglebone 3.2.28 #1 Tue Sep 11 13:08:30 CEST 2012 armv7l GNU/Linux

The first thing that was different than expected was when we ran the dmesg command after installing the drivers and expected to see something like this:

We don't see anything similar. Attached as a text file is our dmesg output. Can you please help us with this issue? What could have gone wrong? Do we need to activate the wlan interface manually or something?

Thank you!

Does it work with a normal computer? Does it get recognized?

I'm having wifi issues also. Here is where I am. I never get the inet addr on wlan0.

root@beaglebone:~# ifconfig wlan0
wlan0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:E0:4C:09:25:17
RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
RX bytes:0 (0.0 B) TX bytes:0 (0.0 B)

Any ideas?

here is /var/lib/connman/wifi.config

Type = wifi
