TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
RX bytes:0 (0.0 B) TX bytes:0 (0.0 B)
I am able to use wicd-curses to connect to my LAN via WIFI
I am trying to set up BBB as an access point. I followed the Raspberry Pi Tutorial from : https://learn.adafruit.com/setting-up-a ... l-software
When I try to run hostapd, I am getting the following error:
drv->ifindex=3
l2_sock_recv==l2_sock_xmit=0x0x51638
ioctl[SIOCSIWMODE]: Invalid argument
Could not set interface to mode(3)!
Could not set interface to master mode!
rtl871xdrv driver initialization failed.
Please help. Thanks!

Re: WIFI adapter and Hostapd Access Point
Ah.. that explains some things.
The kernel for the BBB version of Debian is old enough that it doesn't have good support for some of the popular wifi chipsets. Try udpating it as shown on this tutorial page:
