USB instead of serial

Post by qwerty693 »

Another thing: I want to try and eliminate the problem of the stunningly slow transfer rate of the Minty by using a USB 2.0 interface rather than the Serial to USB chip. In otherwords, I understand that you could convert, with a chip from Serial to USB, but the total transfer rate still can't exeed like 115kbps, and if you could wire some type of direct USB chip onto the PCB, it might increase the speed a bunch.

you can use a USB 2 card reader also. Much easier I'd say.

Only problem is, I'm trying to build mine without a removeable CF, rather a component one. So I can't just pop the card into a reader...

The USB->serial chip isn't what is limiting the file transfer speed. Its the PIC microchip that slows it down.
