Quick note to anyone who is thinking of Sampling from MAXIM. Whatever you do, when they ask for application details (they are stingy with their samples), DO NOT tell them you're an unemployed uni dropout living in your mother's basement, who thought it might be fun to cobble together an MP3 player in an Altoids box.
Instead, tell them the truth, that you're the head of the north american research & development division of a multinational swiss electronics conglomerate (say, Nokia, thinking of getting out of the cell-phone biz), ordering parts for a proof of concept "I-Pod killer", and that, if the P.O.C. takes off, you will be ordering a hundred bajillion parts every fiscal quarter until the earth crashes into the sun.
Then, when you don't receive any confirmation email, or shipping notification, and their customer service won't return your emails, and you are about to give up hope, wait another week.
It's like Christmas!
