Pi Model B+ usb ports not working
Just received my model B+ from Adafruit earlier this week. However, none of the USB ports seem to be working. I've tried many USB keyboards/mice/input devices on OpenELEC and Raspbian to no avail. Defective unit? I emailed in and they told me to post here on the forum.

You must be using an existing SD card? You have to generate a new system in order for the USB ports to work.

Nope, it was a brand new install from the .img file. But I'll try again tonight to confirm after a brand new flashing.

Just to be sure, give the card a low-level format with the SD Association's official tool for the job: https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/
Writing disk images does a filesystem-level format, but all the major operating systems are a bit sloppy about low-level formatting.
