Raspberry pi hardware failure!

Raspberry pi was working fine earlier, i plugged it in power led was dim and there was no activity on the activity led, and the processor started heating up really fast, i unplugged all accessories and removed the sd card and plugged it in again, same problem, i purchased my raspberry pi on October 24, 2013

Those symptoms don't sound very promising. Let me check if any of the other engineers has seen anything like this before.

Seems to me that the main processor chip has some sort of internal failure, no idea what could have caused it

One of our RPi experts had this to say:
Searching around it does sound like the dim red LED and hot chip could be a sign of something shorting out:

I've never really liked how pi uses male GPIO pins--very easy to brush them with something metal on accident and short it out.

It sounds like the main processor chip is fried as it heats up when plugged in, indicating the short is inside the chip, what are my options?

It sounds like this board is beyond repair. Replacing the processor chip is not a very practical option.

Is it under any kind of warranty?

Adafruit has a 30 day replacement policy on these. If you purchased it last October, it is no longer covered.

I swear i read somewhere that it had a 1 year warrenty
