A very beginner question.

Post by abzy »

Hi, My keyboard, input 5V 50mA , turns on in a flash and turns off when I attach the power adapter, 5V 1A that came with the RPi Model B starter pack. Is it that the power adapter doesn't support it? If so what spec power adapter do you recommend?

Also, is this the correct list of Raspbian wheezy boot files dated 2014-09-09:
bootcode.bin
cmdline.txt
config.txt
fixup_cd.dat
fixup_x.dat
fixup.dat
issue.txt
kernel.img
LICENSE.BANNED
start_cd.elf
start_x.elf
start.elf
I see out there that there are more files in the boot, like arm128_start.elf, arm224_start.elf, arm192_start.elf.. not sure of their versions but I couldn't have mine booted yet so desperately trying to find what I am doing wrong. Thanks
Since I couldn't have booted my raspian yet, do you

You haven't got your Pi to boot yet? Have you tried installing NOOBS?

Just to rule out any issue try booting the Raspberry Pi with no keyboard connected. You should see the bootup messages displayed on the HDMI port. This will help rule out any power issues starting up the Pi.

Those files look good, they're what's on the /boot partition of the SD card. There's another partition on the SD card that has the actual filesystem, but it might not be visible to you if you're using Windows. Be very careful not to modify any of the of the files in the /boot partition when in Windows (like with notepad), because it can change the line endings and cause things not to boot.

Just to rule out any accidental modification I would burn a new SD card image from http://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/ . Noobs is a good image to start with if you're new, otherwise Raspbian is the standard operating system most folks use for hardware projects.

Nothing happens as the screen all black like there's no power at all with NOOBS but This is what I get with Raspbian :

Authentication failure
INIT: Id "I" responding too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
[4701.266090] bcn2700_fb_blank (0) returns=0 p(1)=0x0000000

Hrm, that sounds like the SD card might be corrupt or not getting written correctly. Try using a different card and check out these instructions for burning it with an image: http://www.raspberrypi.org/documentatio ... /README.md

IT WORKED!!!!!! Not the NOOBS but Raspbian worked this time and with all configurations and everything and now I can even reboot on to the desktop. Thank you both so much!
