PiTFT Capacitive Touch [ID: 1983] - Touch Not Working

The screen displays fine but I have no touch.
I tried to install the PiTFT Capacitive Touchscreen on my Raspberry Pi 2 this morning using the Easy Install. I also set it up to boot to the desktop using the instructions from the FAQ. I performed the update, upgrade, and rpi-update this weekend so I should be up-to-date on that side. I also reseated the ribbon cable when it first arrived since it was loose on one end.
Note: The Raspberry Pi is my first first Linux computer. I've only had it for a few weeks.

Upgrading the OS deletes everything that makes the Easy-Install image work.

Linux uses what's called a 'monolithic kernel'. Everything that makes the OS work exists as a single executable file. To make the PiTFT work, we had to build a version of the kernel that contains pieces that know how to talk to the PiTFT hardware, and that's included in the Easy-Install disk image. When you perform an upgrade, the system downloads a copy of the latest kernel which doesn't contain all the PiTFT stuff.

Try a fresh install from the disk image and see if that works.

I will try the disk image in the morning and update.

I performed all of those updates this weekend but didn't try to do the Easy Install until today. It was my understanding (which isn't saying a lot at this point) I could use the latest updates but would have to install the PiTFT after each time I updated. I had used Noobs to install Raspbian originally. I thought the Easy Install just replaced anything it needed to.
Does this mean I can never update my Pi if I want this screen? If I install from the disk image, then update, can I use Easy-Install to put it back? How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Pop?

I believe I found my issue. I am 100% (give or take 80%) positive I clicked the learn link on the bottom of the page to install the screen but ended up at the Resistive instructions. I'm rebuilding my image and going to try again with the correct instruction page.

Going into this, I figured I had messed up a command or installed something that conflicted. As it turns out, some idiot clicked the wrong link. It's working now.
