i have a Sony Trinitron CRT. the highest video input is Component. i guess 720i?.
would one of these work:
or would there have to be some external converter to process the image.
how would i get YPbPr or S-Video output?

If the adapter works for other HDMI sources, it should also work for the RasPi.

but it would have to convert Digital to Analog. what im not sure about is if the HDMI Port on the R-Pi is capable of outputting Analog signal.

There's no such code.
If the adapter can select signals from the HMDI bundle and turn them into signals a YPbPr or S-Video system can understand, the adapter is all you need. If it can't, you'll need an HDMI-to-whatever converter.
