From what I can see in your photo, you have GND (red wire) connected to DI, The signal (Yellow wire) connected to +5v and the VBatt (green wire) connected to GND. Please re-wire according to the diagram in the tutorial. With luck, the strip may have survived the reverse voltage.

Re: Firewalker shoe newbie question
No, I connected everything right and I compared it with my first working shoe. I know the picture is blurry but I connected red wire to ground pad next to the battery connector Not DI. I connected D6 to DIN, VBAT to 5V, and GND to GND pad on the strip. Your picture of LED stripe solder pad layout is different from mine. My LED strip shows:
--->
GND
DIN
V+5
--->
GND
DIN
V+5

OK then. Take the alligator clip for the signal wire and touch it to the DI pad for the second or third pixel in the strip. It is possible that you have a blown pixel or two on the strip. Pixel problems are more common than Flora problems.

When I connect the flora from the working shoe to the LED strip that I have been testing with everything works. So, its the flora board that's not working. what should I do?
