Is the Trinkit 5V mini microcontroller capable of powering the LED Belt Kit instead of the breakout board? Only looking to drive 1m of the Digital RGB LED Weatherproof strip (32 LEDs).
Cheers!

Re: Trinket Mini Microcontroller 5V & LED Light Strip
32 LEDs, 3 colors, 20mA each
That's close to 2 amps of current in worst case scenario (all 32 LEDs on at full brightness)
You definitely need to be careful, you need a power supply capable of 2 amps of power at 5V
The Trinket itself is certainly capable of sending the data needed, but I don't think your ordinary USB port can support 2 amps of current (ordinary USB 2.0 ports can give you 500 mA at most)

Thanks for the information. I won't be powering from USB but using a 5V power supply that Adafruit sells and soldering directly to the board.

We know for sure that the Trinket can drive NeoPixels

there's no reason it cannot also drive the LPD8806 LED strip but honestly, the Neopixel uses only one pin and it is less expensive so we tend to use that for projects these days
