TR606 as a Midi drum sequencer with Arduino

Post by xarolium »

Dear Diyers,

Since three years we saw on the web a lot of new drum sequencer based on arduino but all builder ask money for schematic or program. This is not my goal on this project, i just what to share information to keep DIY "Spirit".
I'm working on a arduino program to replace the tr606 CPU.
In case i could use it like a Midi Sequencer with 16 voices or more depending the size of the program.
I did it instead of have a new desktop machine on my studio, use what i got like tr606 and extend his function with a Mod.
The problem is that i'm not a really good programmer, i'm more analog electronik DIYER.

I hope this project interest lot of people to exchange ideas.
The beginning (to do):
-Make arduino Pin compatible with CPU socket of the TR606
- use LED and Switch of the 606 to make a simple sequencer without change anything (or just a little) in the tr606
-use EEPROM memory instead of RAM
-Define the program function like write read pattern and song live mode... anything you think for live playing or composing

Hi, I know this post is super old but I was wondering if you had started something or not?
I was reading stuff about the teensy 2 which can be turned into a midi device but I am like you, I am more on the diy electronics side.
