i've always liked the phuture acid sound etc, total respect there;

but my main reason for getting an x0xb0x is for doing crazy acid like squarepusher, luke vibert, aphex etc...

I wanted an x0xb0x because I did not have any analog synthesizers.
I wanted an x0xb0x because I needed to generate funky bass lines for some breaks tunes and the digital instruments were not giving me what I was after.
I wanted an x0xb0x because I bought into the TB303 myth, but was not willing to spend the cash for a real 303.
I have enjoyed many, many tunes that fetured the TB303 and was eager to try my hand at programming and laying down some real time knob twisted tracks.
I wanted to build an x0xb0x because though I have been building electronics for many years, I had never built a complete project for myself (lots of circuit bending, but not a start to finish project).
Now that I have the x0xb0x, I am enjoying the hell out of it. It was exciting and fun to build. It was fun adding a couple of mods. It was a challenge to tune. It is dead simple to program and easy to generate interesting results. The range of sounds it can generate is fantastic and unique. I can build entire songs with just this one simple monosynth (I even managed getting an interesting bass drum sequence out of it). With effects and compression, you can sample/multitrack wicked phrases and progressions.
When I go to play in my small home studio now, I am more drawn to the x0xb0x than any other instrument, my Suzuki Omnichord second , the turntable 3rd and my digital synth workstation next. I don't even turn on the computer. It has something to do with the immediacy and hands on nature of the box.
Rock on :twisted:
