img2track knitting machine software

Post by davipo »

Greetings knit-hackers --

I have exciting news for those of you who have attempted the Brother KH-930 hack. We are developing a program to make this a much easier process. Today we are releasing a preliminary version for testing.

This program, called img2track, reads a graphic image file and converts it to pattern data that can be loaded directly into the knitting machine, using Steve Conklin's floppy disc emulator. It avoids the manual entry of the dimensions of the image, and eliminates several steps in the process.

It is still not as easy as we would like it to be, and we expect to release much friendlier versions in the coming weeks.

We'd like your help with testing. If you have been able to successfully transfer data with the emulator, please try img2track and let us know if you find any problems. The program produces a log file that will help us debug it.

If you have not been able to get patterns into the machine with the current hack, you may want to wait for the next version.

The current version has so far been tested only on MacOSX computers. It should work under Linux as well, please let us know. It might run under Microsoft Windows.

You will find img2track and documentation at http://daviworks.com/knitting/

Thanks for your help!

We've just released img2track 2.0, a MacOSX app version with a graphical user interface, packaged for easy installation. It's much improved, and has been tested with Brother KH-930 and KH-940 knitting machines. We hope to build Windows and Linux versions if there is sufficient interest.
