using xbee with camera

Postby dmh » Fri Apr 27, 2012 1:06 pm

Hi,

My wife is going to put Humming Bird feeders outside. With this in mind is it possible to send the video signal of the TTL Serial JPEG Camera with NTSC Video, using an xbee series 2, and then receive the signal and show it on a computer monitor. Also adding the capability to take a snap shot as well. How would I even start?

Thanks
Mike

'Fraid not. The camera outputs analog video, whereas Xbee communicates serial data.

If you're okay with just watching video (no snapshots, no computer), there are some wireless baby monitor cameras that are easy to set up and do this right out of the box. If you need the whole enchilada, there are some WiFi security cameras/webcams that do this -- Google search for 'wifi webcam' will get you started.

Thanks,

Does the camera connect to an Arduino UNO R3? I saw instructions using Duemilanove. Maybe I could turn the camera off/on through an Xbee? My computer is next to a sliding glass door and across from that is her bird feeders.

Thanks
Mike
