BeagleBone Wifi tutorial

Postby Plecharts » Mon May 14, 2012 10:14 am

Hi, I really like the Wi-Fi tutorial for the BeagleBone ( http://ladyada.net/products/beaglebone/wifi.html ), but I have a question: Is it possible to configure BeagleBone to be able to connect to two or more access points instead of just one?

Thank You

do you mean at the same time (bridging) or for it to have multiple options for connecting and it picks them by priority?

I mean to have multiple options and select between them automatically.

that would be something the connection manager can do - we haven't played much with it but you could try reading about it here

it looks like the helpful instructions provided here http://ladyada.net/products/beaglebone/wifi.html does not work with connman 0.79 (that is the version currently provided by angstrom repository).

According to this http://connman.net/blogs/patrik/2012/connman-079 , they have made some changes property names,... starting at version 0.79

I have not been able to make wifi to work with connman 0.79

?

The tutorial we have is for the stock Bone distribution - if/when the Bone distro is updated we'll try and update the tutorial to match. Until then we suggest getting the stock distro

I went through the tutorial and I had one issue; connman only seems to support one type of connection at a time, so I could never connect to wifi with the ethernet still attached. After removing the ethernet cable wifi just worked perfectly using the tutorial.
