Need help modifying my neutral switch indicator light LED

Post by InactiveUser »

My instrument cluster on my motorcycle is going to be modified with white LED's rather than the orange ones soon, since it's winter. Along with it I want to modify my neutral switch to an RGB LED (why isn't 'RGB' in my browsers dictionary?!) The problem is that the RGB LED's have 6 leads, and of course the OE board has two...positive and negative of course. Another problem is that it is a double sided PC board! Are there RGB LED's that have an IC in them? This site just has one that is 5mmx5mm which is bigger than the one on the board, but quite a bit smaller than the display hole indicating the transmission is in neutral...

Surely something can be done!

Most RGB leds have 4 leads (R, G, B plus a common anode or cathode). There are 'smart' leds with ICs in them. But they typically need 4 leads as well (power ground and 2 for data).
