project with wifi / gprs / gps / temp sensors

Post by jjjeroenski »

Dear Sir, Dear Miss,

I was looking at your site and i am wondering if you could help me with the choice of materials for a project (or experience?)

I want to build a prototype test board who could have 2 temperature sensors and an extra sensor to monitor if a motor is running (for example an open/closed contact) and GPS for positioning , monitor all these to an SD card and send this to a webserver or a database over the internet. For this connection over the internet I would propose to check first if there is WiFi (@the company) or on the road to connect over GPRS connection.

So I need a board, 2 temp sensors to check freezing sensor, one extra i/o contact, gps receiver, gprs receiver/sim card holder/ wifi.
I guess to have the switch between gprs and wifi, the best way is to use a board with an mini operating system in it to handle this?

What is your opinion or what do you propose from your shop?

Thanks in advance for your reply

We have parts that will do most of what you want.

An Arduino UNO should probably work as your base platform: http://www.adafruit.com/products/50

We have a range of temperature sensors: http://www.adafruit.com/category/35_56

We have a GPS shield with an SD card and breadboarding space so you can build your data collection circuit: http://www.adafruit.com/products/1272

And we have XBee modules to handle WiFi communication: http://www.adafruit.com/category/29

About the only thing we don't have is a GPRS system.
