Single channel optical encoder

i want to ask how to use a Single channel "A" optical encoder to measure the position and speed of of the wheels using arduino ,Thanks

I don't know which specific encoder you are referring to. But most will give you one or more pulses per revolution. Unlike quadrature encoders, you will not be able to determine direction of rotation. Only speed.
