Lipo Power and Switching

Post by inventhelp »

Greetings,

I am seeking suggestions/advice/help regarding a few products and possible modifications.

1. Can a switch be outfitted to this charger pictured below? This switch would be to ensure the system could remain wired but be charged without providing power to end device.

2. Could this device ( https://www.adafruit.com/product/1905 )accomplish the same as the pictured device, have a switch added, and connect to load without major soldering and or add on's?

Thank you in advance for any and all responses.

With either charger, you could add a switch to disconnect the device while charging. The best place to add this is in-line with the positive wire from the charger to the device. The actual connections will depend on the wiring requirements of the switch and your device. You may be able to accomplish some of these using solderless wire splices: https://www.adafruit.com/product/1496

The microLiPo charger has a lower maximum charge current and is not recommended for larger batteries, since they would take a very long time to charge.

Thank you Bill! I have already used this switch ( https://www.adafruit.com/products/1863 ) in line but I was hoping I could integrate the switch into the charger pictured above. Similar to this board - https://www.adafruit.com/products/1871

Another question, can the JST connectors on the lip charger be removed with some heat?

Can you folks retail me an 800 mAh LiPo Cells?

Adding a switch to the board would require a change to the board layout. If you will be doing a number of them, it might be worth sending out to have some done. The board files for the USB/DC charger are here if you decide to go that route: https://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit-US ... ly-Charger

JST connectors should come off with a bit of heat from a soldering iron, or a hot-air rework gun.

The closest we have to an 100mAh cell is either 500 or 1200:

Bill, does Adafruit build custom boards, I know sites like http://www.expresspcb.com/ExpressPCBHtm ... ftware.htm can produce but I need a designer because I have no knowledge of the engineering, though I know what I want. Could you recommend a hot bed of young talent? Thank you.

We do not do custom production. (It's all we can do to keep up with the demand for our own boards!)
You might want to post this on our Jobs board: http://www.adafruit.com/jobs
There is a "Services Offered" section there too.
