Since then i have tried a different cable and on a different pc, i also googled around a bit and some people suggest holding down the program button .....stilll nothing ???
Any ideas on how to get this to work?

Does the led on the Teensy light up and does the computer see the Teensy when plugged in.

Re: Teensy 2.0 wont power on
When you pull a Teensy 2.0 out of the package and plug it into power, the LED should flash on and off slowly.
It's running the little demo program which only flashes and does not even initialize the USB.
The Teensy should be undetectable to your host system.
When you hit the program button while connected it switches to the bootloader.
The bootloader is implemented as a USB HID single interface with only one "IN" (to the Teensy) endpoint.
Because it's USB HID, there is no custom driver required.
You do need the download program to send an Intel format hex.

Arduino drivers are for the FTDI USB/serial chip which needs a driver.
That's an entirely different system.

Re: Teensy 2.0 wont power on
Thankyou for the quick feedback,
Unfortunately i have tried the above and i dont get the slow blinking, i have also installer the drivers and played about with the teensy loader. In fact i played with a friends teensy a few months ago so i already had everything on my system, although i did not do much with it i did get a fast blink program and a one button hid working.
I dont get any led status on the device at all, in device manager the teensy displays as "windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems". At first i thought my PC was the issue but i have also tried the teensy on my works PC and my tablet and i get the same message.
Cheers Aaron
