Audio Recording and Playback

Post by jjwallace90 »

Im an architecture student and coming up to a final exhibition. For a while I've been looking to be able to record sound in a space and playback that sound [so lets say record for 1 minute and playback for 1 minute] the issue is that this will all be happening within a model. I need to be able to make this recording and playback cycle happen over and over again [record then playback, then record again and playback again, over and over] I have been in touch with a very helpful student from an art school who did a similar project who sent me this way. He told me he used an arduino and a wave shield [with a code that he also sent to me]. I will have a separate mic and speaker in this model. The problem i face is...well, I have no idea how or which arduino to purchase or wave shield etc. I can solder no problem, but I have no experience with arduino's and programming them. Any help would be much appreciated as I really am running short on time now.

Regards

John

For hardware you want these:

https://www.adafruit.com/product/50 - Arduino Uno
https://www.adafruit.com/product/94 - Wave Shield

The page for the Wave Shield has a link to a tutorial that explains how to build it and use it. Once you have it running well enough to play our 'buildtest' example, your friend will probably be able to help from there.
